I can testify to that. Not even military records are accurate always. I was in the Coast Guard, and I was getting enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). The information they had on my had be being born in the 1600s, and my sex as male. I am most decidedly NOT male, as my female endowments are obvious. I set 'em straight real quick. No, original records are not always to be depended on, and should be corroborated by other records.

Yes, definitely NEVER rely on an index, and very any original against other original sources. :)

So many times, I've seen my information cut and pasted onto a completely incorrect tree. It's very frustrating.
